#FRENCHTRANSLATIONTIPS - N°2

Looking to work with a translator for the first time? Knowing the difference between source and target language is key when getting translation work done.

✅ Source language = the language of the original content which needs to be translated
✅ Target language = the language the content is being translated into

This will seem obvious to translators and other language professionals, but all too often I see job adverts which are unclear about language requirements.

As a rule of thumb, a translator should translate into their native language, and know both their target and source language(s) inside out, linguistically as well as culturally (more on this in my next tips).

So if you are an English-speaking brand looking to expand into the French market, make sure you work with an English into French, native French translator (of the correct French variant - see tip 1!).
